During the meeting, the members voted to accept a new Board member: Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn from Italy.
The publication of two new EMB publications: a Policy Brief linking the recommendations of Navigating the Future V with the priorities of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, and a Position Paper on Next Generation European Research Vessels. A new EMB activity on Underwater Noise was also approved.
Updates were also presented on the ongoing working group on big data in marine science and on the new activity on geohazards, as well as the ongoing EU-funded Project SOPHIE and the new International Ocean Governance Project.
The open session was held jointly with the EurOcean Foundation and the theme was The Future of Europe’s Research Vessel Fleet, featuring the following presentations:
