Roberto Danovaro is an ecologist and professor of marine biology at the Polytechnic University of Marche, Italy. He is a scientist and explorer, and has conducted expeditions in most oceans, from Antarctica to the northern Atlantic, from the Indian to the Pacific Ocean, from the coral triangle to the Mediterranean and Black Sea with an interdisciplinary approach exploring the ecological interactions from viruses to large animals. Specialized in deep-sea ecology he explored several world trenches to 11000-m depth. He is currently investigating the impact of human activities and global climate change on abyssal life.
