In this talk, Dr Jean-Olivier Irisson discussed 'Machine learning to unlock the potential of plankton imaging big data'. This talk links to EMB Future Science Brief No. 6 'Big Data in Marine Science'.
Dr Jean-Olivier Irisson is an Associate Professor at Sorbonne Université, France. He is a computational ecologist, and his work combines data, algorithms, and software implementations on computers to tackle ecological questions. He works in marine ecosystems, where he studies plankton. Since 2016, he has been leading the Computational Plankton Ecology (COMPLEx) team of the Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefranche (LOV), and he was a member of the EMB Working Group on Big Data in Marine Science from 2019 - 2020.
You can find a copy of his slides here, and the webinar is available to re-watch on the EMB YouTube page.
