The EMB Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOP) Network was created by the EMB Ambassadors, with support from the Secretariat, in 2022. The Network aims to bring together ECOPs from EMB Member organisations, provide them with opportunities to engage in EMB activities, have a voice within EMB, and help them better understand how the European marine science policy landscape operates. The Network hosted its first Forum event in October 2023.
In October 2024, the EMB Board approved the formalisation of the EMB ECOP Network within EMB, indicating its strong support for ECOPs and their activities, and demonstrating a willingness to listen and engage in dialogue.
The EMB Ambassadors will continue to manage the Network and its activities, with the support the the Secretariat, and will report to the Board during Plenary Meetings every 1.5 years.
The Network is open to anyone who self-identifies as an ECOP, and has a demonstrable link to an EMB Member organisation (e.g. they are based at or funded by an EMB Member organisation). Those interested can subscribe here.
