During the meeting, the members voted to accept two new Board members: Foundation CETMAR and GEOMAR. Jeremy Gault was elected as a new ExCom member, replacing Gilles Lericolais who had completed his full 5-year term. The departure of Senior Science Officer Kate Larkin was also announced.
The publication of two new EMB Future Science Briefs on biological ocean observations and marine ecosystem modelling was announced. A new EMB Ambassadors Programme was approved by the Board, as was a new EMB activity on Big Data.
The upcoming EMB flagship publication Navigating the Future V, and flagship event EurOCEAN 2019 were discussed. Updates were also presented on ongoing working groups on valuing marine ecosystems and on European Research Vessels, as well as ongoing EU-funded Projects AtlantOS and SOPHIE, and the EOOS initiative.
