Fifth edition of the CommOCEAN conference

From 30 November to 1 December 2022, the 5th International Conference on Marine Science Communication (CommOCEAN 2022) will take place in Sète (France) and online. The conference is organized by the European Marine Board Communication Panel, in partnership with the University of Montpellier, GéoSciences Montpellier, UMR MARBEC, Ifremer and Universités Marines.

CommOCEAN is a large international conference, organized by the Communication Panel of the EMB every two years in a different location in Europe. CommOCEAN conferences are aimed at all professionals, experts and interested in the field of ocean and scientific communication. The mission of this international conference is to share skills and inspiration based on a wide range of communication and dissemination expertise. It also offers many sessions of interest to the participants, and is designed for participants who wish to either develop new communication skills or increase their level of expertise.

The fifth edition of the conference, CommOCEAN 2022, aims to create a strong community of marine science communication professionals from around the world and to inspire inventive and effective communication of marine science within the scientific community, as well as to the general public, governments and policy makers. The conference includes a broad panel of marine science communication leaders, presentations and workshops covering communication techniques and platforms, as well as examples of marine science research communication campaigns. The event will also include presentations on current projects in the field. This event will take place in the city of Sète, a port city on the Mediterranean Sea, near Montpellier. These two cities are home to a large academic research community working on the ocean.

CommOCEAN 2022 will start on Wednesday 30 November from 9:00 CET, until Thursday 1 December 1 12:30 CET. The meeting will continue in the afternoon of 1 December with an online event for remote participants.
