New Integrated Marine Plan for Ireland

On 31st July 2012, the Irish Prime Minister, (An Taoiseach) Enda Kenny, TD, launched an ambitious Government plan to double the value of Ireland’s ocean economy by 2030. The plan "Harnessing Our Ocean Wealth", based on wide stakeholder consultation, identifies 39 actions to be taken by government to create the conditions to enable this target to be achieved. Implementation of the plan will be overseen by an Inter-Departmental (Ministerial) Co-ordination Group, involving nine key government departments (Ministries), chaired by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, TD. Progress against set targets will be reviewed in 2014 and annually thereafter. Read more here
