EMB Annual Report 2022
In 2022, the EMB Secretariat moved to the brand-new InnovOcean campus in Ostend (Belgium), where many valuable interactions and discussions have already taken place. Throughout the year, EMB organised a range of impactful initiatives, such as the CommOCEAN conference, a Brown Bag Lunch, and the launch of three new foresight publications. EMB also took a new turn by launching 'EMBracing the Ocean', an artist-in-residence programme which stimulated collaboration between Ocean scientists and artists, leading to remarkable artworks that reflect the deep connection between art and ocean sciences. Ocean oxygen: The role of the Ocean in the oxygen we breathe and the threat of deoxygenation
EMB Future Science Brief No. 10 highlights the most recent science on Ocean oxygen, including causes, impacts and mitigation strategies of Ocean oxygen loss, and whether “every second breath we take comes from the Ocean”. It closes with key policy, management and research recommendations to address Ocean deoxygenation and communicate more accurately about the role of the Ocean in Earth’s oxygen.

EMB ECOP Network Forum Proceedings Published
The Proceedings are now available for the first EMB ECOP Network Forum which was held in Santiago de Compostela on 8-9 October 2023. The in-person event was organised by the EMB Ambassadors. The Proceedings outline what took place, and present the main messages and outcomes of the Forum.
EMB is looking for an Executive and Finance Officer
The European Marine Board (EMB) invites applications for the position of Executive and Finance Officer. The EMB Executive and Finance Officer is employed by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) as part of a package of support provided by the Government of Flanders in hosting EMB at the InnovOcean site. The successful candidate will join the EMB Secretariat based at the InnovOcean campus in the port of Ostend, Belgium.

ECOP Wednesdays April 2024

On Wednesday 3 April 2024, EMB and its Young Ambassadors will host an ECOP Wednesday series event on 40 Years of Ocean Literacy: Reflecting on 20 Years History and Looking Forward to 2044. The session will feature speaker Peter Tuddenham from the College of Exploration, USA. The talk will be followed by an interactive Q&A discussion. The event will be one hour long, from 12:00 - 13:00 CEST.
